Rapid City is the ultimate destination, but there is plenty to see along the way. We're going to stop by the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota. We'll also be stopping in the Badlands to take in the beauty. Once we're in Rapid City, we'll be checking out the local farm markets and stay with Shayanne's grandparents.
Day 2 and 3 will feature checking out the local hotspots for sight seeing, such as Mount Rushmore and the Cosmos, as well as hiking.
I plan on daring Shayanne to climb it and without any equipment, no less. I don't think she's foolish enough to take the bet, so instead we'll just take in the scenery and go hiking.
It's no surprise that I'm a big fan of the show South Park. So we're going to at the very least drive through it and try to find a sign to take a picture in front of. After we go through South Park, we'll hit Denver to visit one of Shayanne's friends. The next day we'll head to Colorado Springs to check out Pikes Peak.
Pagosa Springs, Colorado is known for their natural hot springs. Shayanne's mom also has a friend who lives there and we will be able to stay with her. We'll use this opportunity to stay for a few days, enjoy the scenery and recharge our batteries.
Durango is a beautiful Colorado town. It just so happens that Shayanne's mom has a friend who lives in this town as well. Like Pagosa Springs, we'll take our time when visiting this town.
Telluride is the town Shayanne's parents met in. Rumor has it, it's the most spectacular town you can possibly see and visit in Colorado. There might have been some bias in that rumor, but it sounds promising.
Just another fabulous town in Colorado to visit. Shayanne's dad has a friend who lives here too.
Neither of us have been to Utah before and we figured, given the trip, why the hell not check it out. Shayanne's dad has a friend who lives here too.
It was dubbed by a friend of Shayanne's as "America's Hidden Treasure." With a title like that, we just have to check it out for ourselves.
America's first National Park, Yellowstone. Mike has an acquaintance who is a geologist there. With that, we should be able to secure a very VIP tour of certain sections of the park. We'll also be camping, hiking and just enjoying mother's bounty known as nature.
Mike has shown interest in becoming a Mountain Man once we hit Missoula. He'll have the time to do it too. We're going to use the opportunity of being able to stay with another friend of Shayanne's mom and take a pit-stop and enjoy the fresh Montana air.
Shayanne's mom said we'll be able to see God while in Glacier National Park. That sounds pretty promising! Like Yellowstone, we'll be camping, hiking and just enjoying the beauty.
We figured since we're on the border, we might as well just cross over and see what those crazy Canucks have to offer anyways. Alberta's a few hours drive from Glacier and Banff is short ways west of Calgary. While cruising down Highway 1, we'll stop in Banff and check out Banff National Park and Lake Louise.
A beautiful Canadian coastal town that Mike has always wanted to check out and wear a Minnesota Wild jersey in.
Portland, our final destination. The trip has only just begun once we make it here.
